Urban Exploration & Abandoned BuildingsFind information on Urban Exploration and Abandoned Buildings.New York City and others. See an Abandoned Sanatoriumin Wisconsin.Find more Urban Exploration & Abandoned Buildings Here:Urban Exploration"Urban exploration (often shortened as urbex or UE) is the examination of the normally unseen or off-limitsparts of human civilization. Urban exploration is also commonly referred to as infiltration, although some people consider infiltrationto be more closely associated with the exploration of active or inhabited sites. In the USA, it may also be referred to as "draining"(when exploring drains) "urban spelunking", and "urban caving", "vadding", "buildinghacking", "Reality hacking" or "roof andtunnel hacking"Ventures into abandoned structures are perhaps the most common example of urban exploration. Abandoned sites are generallyentered first by locals, and often sport large amounts of graffiti and acts of vandalism.Explorers face various risks in abandonedstructures including collapsing roofs and floors, broken glass, guard dogs, the presence of chemicals, other harmful substances, most notably asbestos, hostile squatters and sometimes motion detectors. Some explorers wear respirators to protect their airways.Exploration targets vary from one country to another, but some of the more popular or high-profile abandonments includeamusement parks, grain elevators, missile silos, hospitals, asylums, and sanatoriums. Most, if not all explorers of abandonments find the decay of uninhabited spaces to be beautiful; many of these explorers arealso photographers. Some abandonments are heavily guarded with motion sensors and active security. Others are more easilyaccessible and carry less risk of discovery. Abandonments are also popular among historybuffs, "urban archaeologists, "ghost hunters" and fans of graffiti art."Information found at:WikipediaThe above photo is an abandoned Sanitarium or health home in Wisconsin. The grounds used to bean academy (Hylandale) for youth. Also beside is an abandoned girl's dorm. Some locals call the girl's dorm haunted and takeillegal tours of both old buildings. No trespassing signs are posted but people sneak in any way. Actually a person could probablyget permission to do some urban exploration of the old building if they would ask. But it could be dangerous to explore theseold buildings since some of the floors are weak and you could fall through.Jane Hallock of Hylandale is hoping to fix up the Old health home for a youth retreat. If you are interested in seeing more information and photos clickAbandoned BuildingFind more Urban Exploration & Abandoned Buildings Here:Urban ExplorationUrban Exploration & Abandoned Buildings Powered By RingsurfThis site is part of an Internet Site-Ring Community hosted at World of Newave Previous - List: urban - Home: urban - Forum: urban - Join - Next
